A month crammed full of work.

Music for Adverts: I have recorded a version of ‘I can be your Hero baby’ originally by Enrique Iglesias for an Advert for sliced bread called Irish Pride. This is only available in Ireland. No I have no idea why they thought this tune appropriate. I have written a number of versions of a piece for Nivea, which weren’t used in the end.

I also did a Fleetwood Mac sound alike for Galaxy in Germany and then the campaign was scrapped. I wrote a Cheesy song in an 80’s style with Barry White-esque vocals for a viral campaign for Sony which involved romantic shots of Blair and Bush together.

I composed a Spaghetti western sound track for a new advert for a Nissan car called a Navara. Did some stuff for the Eurostar ads promoting ‘The Da Vinci Code’ which weren’t used, and completed the new Whiskers advert which started off with a brief that said they wanted a cross between Duke Ellington and Primal Scream. No I’m not making this up!

I have also composed, to picture, the music for a film about Motorola for their ‘Museum’ in Chicago and finished the installation and final mix down of the 6.1 Xerox event at the NEC in Birmingham.

At last, at the end of all this I found a few gaps.

My solo record has been about 5 days away from completion for months. I’ve just been too snowed under to find those days. So spent a morning with Danny Thompson at Gavin’s studio in Hertfordshire recording Dan’s contribution to ‘Islands’, spent a day with Gavin the following week looking at mixes that I’ve nearly completed that feature him and also recorded him paying drums on my version of Henry Cow’s ‘9 Funerals of the Citizen King’
