A major development in Django’s progress from toddler to young boy is celebrated with a ‘Treat Day’. I take him to the cinema to see ‘Chicken Little’ which is rubbish, quite frankly. It comes nowhere near the genius of ‘Curse of The Were Rabbit’ the latest Wallace and Gromitt epic that we pick up on DVD the following day.
Take him to lunch at the Aluminium Dinner called ‘Starvin Marvin’s’ on the A40. After eating, the car won’t start and the battery runs out. I call the AA and Django wets his trousers.
I won’t bore you with this, but it’s a bit of a bloody nightmare.
Sid phones as I’m in the queue trying to buy some nappies that won’t fit Django from the nearby petrol station. Meanwhile the hapless AA man engages Django in conversation till I get back to change him.
Later that afternoon the 2 kids play happily together for about 4 minutes which is a vast improvement.
Django gets out his little electronic drum kit and shows a real aptitude for musical gurning. Great faces to accompany his runs round the kit. After one long flourish I praise him and say ‘that’s great Django, what is it?’
He informs me that this is from a new album that he is making with is granddad in the studio. (For those of you familier with the boy’s lineage it’s worth pointing out that the Granddad he’s referring to is my Father who died 2 years ago) ‘What’s the album called?’ I ask. Without a beat, or anytime to think or make something up he say ‘It’s called Munkers Steaming Bio’
He will soon lose the ability to come up with surreal nonsense on spot like this. I shall miss it greatly and look forward to his sister’s contribution to the genre.
